With the purpose that tourism in Peru is absolutely inclusive, the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur), is working on strategies to make the possibilities that a person with some type of disability can know the attractions of the country without any inconvenience more accessible , in close collaboration with the National Council for the Integration of Persons with Disabilities (Conadis).
According to the Vice Minister of Tourism, José Vidal, there is a special interest for people with disabilities and it is taken into account, which is why 44 specialists and technicians of the institution received an induction talk from the Conadis about the importance of accessibility in tourism, emphasizing current regulations on accessibility.
“This training helped raise awareness about the situation of people with disabilities in Peru, in addition to the treatment they should receive when they access a tourist service. Let’s not forget that tourism is an activity that should be enjoyed by everyone, ”said Vidal.
It is important to develop strategies with the support of Conadis to have measures that facilitate groups with limited access to tourism to exercise their fundamental right to enjoy leisure time and rest, as well as a balanced and adequate environment for the development of their lives.
“This strategy is framed in the Social Tourism program that we developed in the Vice Ministry of Tourism with the aim of promoting and facilitating access to tourism for all,” he concluded. Finally, the Social Tourism program exists and is in force, based on articles 45 and 46 of Law No. 29408 – General Tourism Law, in coordination with public and private organizations.
